TRIP TO LOCAL APPLE BARREL TURNS INTO $50,000 LOTTERY WIN FOR YAKIMA RESIDENT

A quick stop to Apple Barrel (2021 Fruitvale Blvd, Yakima, WA 98902) turned into a $50,000 Lottery win for Yakima resident Josefina Daniel, after she decided to play a game of “Fruit Explosion” Scratch.

“I saw the little fruit on the ticket and thought it was cute, so I decided to play,” said Daniel. “When I got home and scratched my ticket, I didn’t think I’d won as much as I did. It wasn’t until I took my ticket back to the store that I found out it was a big winner!”

A mother of five, Daniel told Washington’s Lottery officials she’s excited to share her prize money with her children and husband. After paying off some bills, she plans to buy a new van for her husband and put some of the prize money toward a car for her son, who’s a senior in high school.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
