SPOKANE LOTTERY WINNER PLANS TO DONATE PORTION OF $100,000 PRIZE TO LOCAL UNION GOSPEL MISSION

Spokane resident Ge Vue is planning to give back to his family and the community after winning $100,000 from a Powerball® ticket he purchased at Fred Meyer (400 S Thor St, Spokane, WA 99202) for theFebruary 25 drawing.

“I was taking my son to soccer practice when I stopped by the gas station to check my ticket,” said Vue. “When I found out I won, I kept thinking ‘Wow, how did this happen?’ I called my wife immediately and showed her the ticket as soon as I got home.”

Vue told Washington’s Lottery officials he plans to donate a good portion of his prize money to his local Union Gospel Mission, as the organization helped a friend of his in the past. “I always donate clothing to Union Gospel Mission and Goodwill,” said Vue. “I believe in giving back to organizations that benefit the community.”

He also plans to put the remaining portion of his winnings into a college fund for his three children. “I want my children to be able go to college wherever they want, whether they choose to stay in Washington or go out of state,” said the man. Vue also hopes to continue his education in the near future and get his PhD.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
