SULTAN MAN RECIEVES $50,000 APRIL FOOL’S DAY SURPRISE

A man from Sultan received the ultimate April Fool’s Day surprise when he decided to check a Powerball® ticket he purchased back in November 2016 and found out it was a $50,000 winner.

“I saw the ticket sitting by the window and realized I never checked it,” said the man. “I used the Washington’s Lottery app to scan the ticket, but when I saw it was a winner, I thought it was an April Fool’s Day prank!”

The winner told Washington’s Lottery officials he remembers purchasing the ticket while grocery shopping at the Red Apple in Sultan (807 W Stevens Ave, Sultan, WA 98294). He purchased the ticket for the Powerball®drawing on November 16.

“I’m so glad I checked the ticket before it expired,” said the winner. “If I had waited much longer, it might not have been worth $50,000.”

After popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate his win, the man plans to use the prize money to pay off some bills, repair portions of his house and potentially buy a new hot tub.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
