Portland resident, Joseph McEnroe, was grabbing a cup of coffee from Safeway (13023 NE Hwy 99, Vancouver, WA 98686) when he decided to purchase a “3 Wishes” Scratch ticket on a whim. To his surprise, the ticket turned out to be a winner worth $50,000.

“Honestly, I think this was just meant to be,” said McEnroe. “I was supposed to be golfing with my buddy, but my buddy’s wife got sick and he wasn’t able to make our tee time. I only went to Safeway because I needed to kill some time.”

McEnroe told Washington’s Lottery officials he hasn’t made a decision regarding how he plans to spend his prize money, but is thinking about planning a trip to Seattle with his wife.
