GRANITE FALLS RESIDENT WINS $180,000 USING FAMILY BIRTHDAYS AS NUMBER INSPIRATION

Choosing numbers has paid off for a man from Granite Falls, who recently won $180,000 playing the birthdays of his wife and children for the Hit 5 drawing on April 29. The man purchased his winning ticket from Morning Side Grocery (9118 35th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115).

“I don’t play often, but when I do, I always use my family’s birthdays as numbers,” said the winner. “I remember checking the website the following Sunday and freaking out when I saw the winning numbers. I kept thinking ‘I hope I played this recent drawing.’”

To the man’s delight, he played and won. The winner told Washington’s Lottery officials he plans to use the money to take his family on a summer vacation to Park City, Utah. “We’ll visit family while there, but also just enjoy being tourists,” said the man. A new car is also in order for the winner’s wife.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
