RENTON MAN’S SLIGHT DETOUR TURNS $10 INTO $50,000

When a man from Renton stopped by a local convenience store to cash a $10 prize from a Scratch ticket, he was told the machine was temporarily out of order and that he’d have to go to a different store. The winner headed over to Bronson Market (1408 Bronson Way N, Renton WA, 98057) where he cashed his prize and then used the money to buy two $5 Scratch tickets. To his delight, one of his “Jackpot Riches” Scratch tickets was a $50,000 winner.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said the winner. “It’s crazy! I keep thinking if the first convenience store were able to cash my original ticket, I probably wouldn’t have won $50,000. For some lucky reason, I was told to go somewhere else and ended up hitting the jackpot!”

The winner told Lottery officials he works full-time in Seattle, but his family lives in Michigan so he had to text his wife a picture of the ticket in order to share the good news.

The winner returned to Michigan for the Fourth of July weekend and took his wife to a nice dinner to celebrate his win. He then plans to go car shopping and has his eyes on a white Ford F150 XLT. After purchasing a new car, the winner plans to put any remaining money in the bank.
