YAKIMA RESIDENT SCORES UNEXPECTED WIN ON HIS WAY TO WORK

Playing Scratch on the way to work paid off big for longtime Washington’s Lottery player Ray Webster. The Yakima man won the top prize of $50,000 on a “Frogger” Scratch ticket he purchased from Safeway (205 N 5th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902) on Thursday, September 1.

Webster was en route to his night shift at Haas when he decided to stop and purchase a Scratch ticket.

“I figured the ‘Frogger’ game was new so I’d give it a go,” said Webster. “When I scratched the ticket and found out I won, I immediately signed the back and stuck the ticket in my pants pocket. Knowing I had a winning ticket in my pocket made my night go by so much faster!”

When asked how he plans to spend his prize money, Webster said, “I know exactly what I’m not going to be doing: painting my own house! I’ll gladly hire someone to do it while I sit back and relax.” He also said he plans to use the money to pay off some bills, and then put the rest of the money away for safekeeping.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
