TWO-TIME LOTTERY WINNER FROM MONROE PLANS TO INVEST WINNINGS IN HIS PLUMBING BUSINESS

A man from Monroe was shopping for groceries at his local Safeway (19651 US-2, Monroe, WA 98272) on Saturday, August 27 when he decided to play “$75,000 Fortune” Scratch. To his surprise, he won a top-prize, leaving the store as a $75,000 winner.

“I was scratching my ticket when money bags began popping up one after another,” said the winner. “I don’t play this game often so I brought my ticket to the register to ask if I was reading it correctly.”

The winner told Washington’s Lottery officials he plans to use some of his money to purchase a used van for his part-time plumbing business. He said his search starts tomorrow but he already has his eyes on a friend’s van he’s wanted to purchase for a year. Then, he plans to put the remaining money in the bank.

This isn’t the first big Lottery prize the man has taken home. In 1997, he won $20,000 playing Scratch.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
