The winner plans to surprise his family with a dream vacation
Olympia, Wash. (November 1, 2023) – A dad from Shoreline who recently won $110,000 playing Hit 5 plans to use his new fortune on the ultimate surprise for his family: a vacation they have dreamed of and will never forget.
The day began like any other for the winner as he stopped at his local Safeway Fuel to fill up his tank in preparation for a day of driving for Uber. While he waited, he purchased his routine Hit 5 ticket and filled out the slip with thoughtfully chosen numbers.
Shortly after that evening’s drawing, the man checked the Washington’s Lottery app on his phone to see what the winning numbers were. His ticket, thanks to his carefully selected numbers, turned out to be worth a $110,000 prize.
In addition to the family vacation, the winner plans to take his two kids to dinner to celebrate the occasion. He also plans to use some of his winnings to pay off his debt.
Hit 5 is a Washington state lottery game that replaced Quinto in 2007. Each play is $1. Players pick five numbers between 1 and 42. Alternatively, players may use Quick Pick by letting the computer select their numbers. With four winning ball combinations, the more numbers that match those drawn, the more a player will win.
Making a Difference in Washington State
Since 1982, Washington’s Lottery has generated more than $5.0 billion to support several important state programs, including providing much-needed funds for the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account (WOPA). In FY22, WOPA received $176.6 million from the Lottery, enough to pay college tuition for more than 9,900 Washington residents. It also provided approximately 25% of the annual budget for the state’s Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program, which provides critical services to more than 15,000 children at 440 locations across Washington.
