Gliding Eagle Market sells winning $1.3 million Lotto jackpot ticket

The Kingston retailer is celebrating with a $13k jackpot selling bonus from Washington’s Lottery

Olympia, Wash. (July 25, 2024) – Gliding Eagle Market, a convenience store wholly owned by the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe in Kingston, has been open for more than 50 years and continues to reach new milestones. The latest achievement came in the form of selling the sole winning $1.3 million Lotto jackpot ticket on June 12, but that’s not the only reason the store is celebrating – because they sold that winning ticket, Gliding Eagle Market received a $13,000 selling bonus from Washington’s Lottery.

When Kelly Bauch, a representative for Gliding Eagle Market, found out that the retailer had sold the jackpot winning ticket, she couldn’t believe it. She was left even more in shock when she later found out that the market would receive a large selling bonus due to the sale. The store plans to mark this momentous occasion by giving back to its hardworking employees.

“The team at Gliding Eagle is fantastic, which is why we’re so excited to share this moment with them. We plan to divvy up the selling bonus and share it directly with our employees on their next paycheck,” said Kelly. “The employee who sold the winning ticket will also be getting a little extra for the role they played in the sale.”

This isn’t the first big winning ticket Gliding Eagle Market has sold this year, as the convenience store sold a Scratch ticket worth $1,000 back in January.

Players help support beneficiaries of Washington’s Lottery with every ticket sold. Each year, Lottery sales help boost programs that benefit communities throughout the state, including education, economic development, responsible gambling, and more. Alternatively, players may use Quick Pick by letting the computer select their numbers. With four winning ball combinations, the more numbers that match those drawn, the more a player will win. Tickets for Lotto are available for purchase at Washington’s Lottery retail locations throughout the state. Players can find Washington’s Lottery retail locations here.

Of this, $139.1 million helped fund the Washington College Grant, a financial aid program that supported more than 29,000 college students and apprentices across the state last year. Another $2.5 million helped fund the College Bound program to help eligible students attain a college or training degree or credential.
