Using her birthday and the day she got “a second chance at life” as her numbers for eachticket, she won the game’s top prize of $10,000 on all 18 tickets
Olympia, Wash. (November 18, 2024) – Numbers often hold special meaning in our lives – they can represent cherished memories like birthdays, anniversaries or milestones, and sometimes, they can bring moments of unexpected joy. For one Yakima woman, her special numbers added up to $180,000 win from Washington’s Lottery.
The numbers she picks for her weekly Match 4 tickets have always carried personal significance, often inspired by important dates in her life. Recently, her go-to numbers have been a combination of her birthday and the day she says she got “a second chance at life.” One day, she decided to buy 18 Match 4 tickets using this set of numbers from a single retailer, Wray’s Marketfresh Meadowbrook, instead of purchasing them throughout the day from multiple retailers as she’s done in the past. Little did she know that these meaningful numbers and change in routine would lead her to win the game’s top prize of $10,000 on all 18 tickets, totaling a $180,000 win.
After she finished running errands and picking up her grandchildren from school, the woman settled onto her couch to unwind and check her tickets on her phone. She shrieked when she saw her number combination was listed as the set of winning numbers for that night’s drawing. When her granddaughter came in the room to see what was going on, the woman had her double check the numbers, and she confirmed that she indeed had the winning numbers for the game’s top prize. Still in complete disbelief, the woman suddenly remembered she had purchased 18 tickets and had the same numbers on all of them.
After claiming her big prize at the Tri-Cities Regional Office, the winner shared the exciting news with her whole family, including her relatives in the Philippines. She plans to share her new fortune with them.
Match 4 is a daily draw game from Washington’s Lottery. Each play is $2. Players pick four numbers between one and 24. Alternatively, players may use Quick Pick by letting the computer select their numbers. With three winning ball combinations, the more numbers that match those drawn, the more a player will win.
