Winners from Sedro-Woolley and Marysville take home $75,000 and $50,000 playing Scratch games from Washington’s Lottery
Olympia, Wash. (May 12, 2025) – Two Washingtonians are starting Spring with a little extra sunshine in their lives after claiming big prizes from Washington’s Lottery.
Darryl, a retiree from Sedro-Woolley, stopped at his local Handy Mart for a beverage one day and while there, he decided to grab a few Scratch tickets for fun. He scratched the first ticket and won $10, and the second one brought another $10 prize, which was a nice bonus. The third ticket wasn’t a winner, so he wasn’t expecting much from the fourth and final ticket. However, as he scratched the Stacks of Cash Scratch ticket, he uncovered something that stopped him in his tracks: a $75,000 top prize.
“I just stared at it for what felt like 20 minutes thinking, ‘There’s no way,’” Darryl said. He drove straight to the Washington’s Lottery office to claim his prize and celebrated with a stop at his local Harley-Davidson shop, where he's giving his longtime bike a little extra love. A trip may be next, but for now, most of his winnings are headed into savings.
E.S. from Marysville typically grabs a few Scratch tickets when he stops at Marysville Liquor and Wine. A longtime fan of local sports teams, he picked up the new Mariners Scratch ticket, drawn in by the second-chance prizes. He brought the tickets home and left them on the kitchen table for about two weeks before finally scratching them while his wife was out of town.
When the Mariners ticket revealed he had won the $50,000 top prize, he was in disbelief. He tried calling his wife right away, but she missed the call, and when she called back, she couldn’t believe it either. The couple plans to celebrate over a nice dinner, pay off their car, and maybe take a well-earned trip together.
Washington’s Lottery offers Scratch games priced between $1 and $30, each with varying prize amounts. The number of actual prizes available in a game may vary based on the number of tickets printed, tested, distributed, sold, and number of prizes claimed.
