Winner buys a ticket every week at Yoke’s Fresh Market in Liberty Lake, now planning for a bathroom remodel and some traveling
Olympia, WA (October 3, 2025) – D.M., a retiree from Newman Lake, likes her routines. Each week, she shops at Yoke’s Fresh Market at 1233 N Liberty Lake Road in Liberty Lake and picks up a HIT 5 ticket for the upcoming week’s drawings. The next morning, she checks her ticket against the winning numbers printed in the newspaper.
On Wednesday morning, D.M. looked over her ticket from the Tuesday, September 23, 2025 drawing, when the Cashpot stood at $945,000. Seeing all five of her numbers match nearly made her spit out her coffee.
“I went flying upstairs and told my better half, ‘I think I just won some money,’” she said.
She certainly did. There were two winners that night, so D.M. split the Cashpot with the other as yet unidentified winner, each collecting $472,500.
“I’ve matched four numbers before and won $150, but nothing like this,” added D.M., who says she always plays HIT 5. “Some of the really big games just seem to take forever and so I looked at the big prize amounts with HIT 5 and I said to myself, ‘I’d be happy with that’…and now I am!”
When asked what she intends to do with her winnings, D.M. said there’s a bathroom remodel in the near future and some travel to visit family who live out of state. The rest will go into savings.
HIT 5 is a Washington state lottery game that replaced Quinto in 2007. Each play is $1. Players pick five numbers between 1 and 42. Alternatively, players may use Quick Pick by letting the computer select their numbers. With four winning ball combinations, the more numbers that match those drawn, the more a player will win. Players can find Washington’s Lottery retail locations here.
