Winner receives belated birthday gift of a lifetime
Olympia, WA (October 6, 2025) – A routine stop at Huntington’s Corner Grocery turned unforgettable for one Camano Island resident, after he won a whopping $75,000 thanks to a Scratch ticket from Washington’s Lottery.
William, a retiree, often buys his tickets at the store near his home. On this particular day, he scratched a ticket that earned him his money back and decided to try again, purchasing a Wild 10s Scratch ticket along with a candy bar.
Back in his truck, he scratched the ticket and was stunned to see the top prize amount of $75,000 staring back at him. “I started shaking and thought, ‘Is this for real? Am I seeing things?’” he recalled. He went back inside the store to confirm and then sat in his truck for nearly 20 minutes before feeling composed enough to drive.
When William called his significant other to tell her the news, she was in disbelief. He later shared the news with his daughter, who replied to a photo of his winning ticket by saying, “That’s a lot of zeroes.”
William says the win feels like a belated birthday present, as his birthday had been just weeks earlier. He and his significant other plan to celebrate this spring by throwing a party with family and friends who have helped them over the years.
With his prize, William hopes to treat himself to another vintage car, and will put the rest into savings.
Washington’s Lottery offers Scratch games priced between $1 and $30, each with varying prize amounts. The number of actual prizes available in a game may vary based on the number of tickets printed, tested, distributed, sold, and number of prizes claimed.
