Suquamish Man Wins $50,000 Playing
Scratch Game From Washington’s Lottery
Winner plans to use his top-prize fortune on a mobile home
Olympia, WA (June 18, 2025) – A routine stop at Fred Meyer in early June turned into an unforgettable day for Suquamish resident Marv C., as he won $50,000 on a Scratch ticket from Washington’s Lottery.
Marv purchased several Scratch tickets at the Fred Meyer located at 5050 State Highway 303 NE in Bremerton, one of his go-to spots for picking up lottery tickets.
He began scratching them on a bus ride to a nearby coffee shop. When he got to his two Lucky Stars Scratch tickets, the first wasn’t a winner, but the second revealed a whopping $50,000 win. As he stepped off the bus, the shock set in. He checked the ticket multiple times and when he scanned it on his phone using the Washington’s Lottery mobile app, he was met with a message confirming his big win.
In shock, Marv went into the coffee shop and couldn’t help but tell the owner about his exciting news. He then headed across the street to pick up glasses from his optometrist’s office and shared the news there, too. One of the workers told him, “I didn’t know someone could actually win $50,000.”
Afterwards, Marv immediately went to the Lottery Regional Office in Federal Way to claim his prize and learned that his ticket held the final top prize for the Lucky Stars game. After depositing his prize money at his credit union, he returned to the Fred Meyer where he bought the ticket to show the staff his official Lottery winner sign, receiving high fives and hugs from associates who were excited to celebrate with him.
With his winnings, Marv plans on buying a mobile home, and will deposit the remaining funds into his savings.
Washington’s Lottery offers Scratch games priced between $1 and $30, each with varying prize amounts. The number of actual prizes available in a game may vary based on the number of tickets printed, tested, distributed, sold, and number of prizes claimed.
